The best way of checking if a surface is flat is with this straight edge, using the light-gap method. The rules are bevelled on the measurement edge and have a textured rubber grip.

Stainless steel
Accuracy grade 00 in accordance with DIN 874
Supplied in a protective case.
Tolerance 0.002-0.004 mm.
